Search & Recovery Diver – PADI Specialty Course in Phi Phi

Ever dropped something underwater or wanted to recover a lost item? Our Search & Recovery Diver course in Phi Phi teaches you how to locate and lift objects safely and efficiently. It’s a fun and practical course that prepares you for real-world diving challenges — and yes, you’ll get to use a lift bag!

Duration: 2 days / 4 dives (or 3 dives if you’ve completed the Adventure Dive)
Maximum Depth: 18m
Prerequisite: PADI (Junior) Open Water or equivalent

Why Take the Search & Recovery Specialty Course?

The Search & Recovery Diver course teaches you to plan and execute search patterns, tie knots underwater, and use lift bags to bring items to the surface. Whether you’re retrieving a lost camera or participating in a marine cleanup, these skills are incredibly useful. As a certified Search & Recovery Diver, you’ll feel more confident and capable underwater.

What You’ll Learn as a Search & Recovery Diver

During four open water dives around Phi Phi, you’ll practice:

• Underwater navigation using a compass
• Search techniques including expanding square and circular patterns
• Knot tying (bowline, sheet bend, two half-hitches)
• Lift bag rigging and controlled ascent of objects

You’ll complete these dives at some of Phi Phi’s most scenic training sites, combining practical skills with tropical reef exploration.

Already Completed the Search & Recovery Adventure Dive?

If you’ve already done the Adventure Dive, you’ll only need three more dives to complete your Search & Recovery Diver certification. You’ll also receive a bonus fun dive at the end of your second day. This course counts toward your Advanced Open Water certification.

What’s Next After Search & Recovery Specialty Course?
