Fish Identification Course – Phi Phi
Curious about the marine life you see while scuba diving in Thailand? Our Fish Identification Course in Phi Phi is designed for certified divers who want to learn how to recognize tropical reef fish and understand their behavior.
This one-day course includes 2 open water dives with an experienced instructor. You’ll learn how to identify fish families such as angelfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, wrasse, and more. With each dive, you’ll gain confidence in spotting key features, recording data, and enhancing your buoyancy for observation.

Learn and Record
Before diving, we’ll introduce you to common reef fish groups with photos and visual ID guides. Underwater, you’ll record fish sightings and sketch unfamiliar species. After the dive, you’ll work with your instructor to identify what you saw. It’s hands-on, educational, and fun.
Marine Conservation
This course also teaches you how to contribute to marine conservation by logging your sightings with eOceans and Project AWARE. Your observations help researchers monitor fish populations and reef health globally.
Already Done the Adventure Dive?
If you’ve completed the Adventure Fish ID dive as part of your Advanced course, you only need one more dive to complete the specialty. The cost is 5,900 THB including materials.
What’s Next?
The Fish Identification Specialty counts toward your Advanced Open Water certification. You can also combine this course with Underwater Naturalist or Project AWARE to boost your reef knowledge and conservation impact.
