At Blue View Divers, we are dedicated to marine conservation and offer a variety of conservation diving programs tailored to enthusiasts and professionals alike. Our courses provide in-depth knowledge and practical experience in coral conservation, focusing on essential techniques to restore and preserve vibrant coral ecosystems. We cover methods such as coral gardening, underwater nurseries, citizen science and coral monitoring.
One of our significant achievements is our involvement in the Maya Bay Rehabilitation Project. This initiative aimed to restore the coral reefs of Maya Bay, which had suffered extensive damage due to the heavy tourist traffic spurred by the film The Beach. Our team played a role in replanting corals and monitoring their recovery, contributing to the overall health of the bay’s marine environment.
The Maya Bay Rehabilitation Project is part of the broader Ocean Quest Global Rehabilitation Program, a collaborative effort between conservationists, the Thai national park authorities, and local communities. This program uses the organic methods used to replant corals at Maya Bay’s reefs which were damaged by unsustainable tourism practices. To combat this, the bay was temporarily closed to visitors to allow for natural regeneration and intensive restoration work.
Maya Bay was closed to the public in response to the overwhelming influx of tourists following the release of The Beach. The significant increase in visitor numbers led to coral damage and pollution, prompting the decision to close the beach in the interest of conservation. The measures implemented included limiting boat access, replanting native species of plants, creating more sustainable visitor infrastructure, intense coral replanting and enforcing strict regulations to protect the marine environment.
Anuar Abdullah, the CEO of Ocean Quest, has been a pivotal figure in marine conservation efforts globally. Under his leadership, Ocean Quest has partnered with Blue View Divers to use our Phi Phi location as a base for various rehabilitation projects. Abdullah’s vision and Ocean Quest’s initiatives align perfectly with our conservation goals, enabling us to implement cutting-edge restoration techniques and drive impactful changes in marine environments. The collaboration has been instrumental in the success of our coral propagation courses and other conservation efforts, enhancing the effectiveness of our programs and reaching broader conservation goals.

Greenfins Coral Watch is a citizen science initiative that empowers divers to monitor coral reef health and report findings. By participating in this program, divers contribute valuable data to local conservation efforts.
E-Oceans is an innovative platform that allows divers to log observations of marine life and environmental conditions. This data helps scientists track changes in coral reefs and marine ecosystems over time.
We organize regular dive community cleanups to remove debris from underwater environments and also on the beaches. These cleanups help maintain the health of coral reefs and marine habitats by reducing pollution and litter.
Our Shark Guardian Diver or Snorkeler Program focuses on the conservation of shark species. Participants learn about shark biology, threats, and conservation strategies while contributing to ongoing research and protection efforts.
